Description:

Meet at the Obsidian Lodge to start the hike on the Ribbon Trail to Hendricks Park. This is an opportunity to find out about the Obsidians, get acquainted with members, and visit our lodge. The Lodge is hard to find so I suggest you get directions and map from Obsidian home page. http://obsidians.org/lodgemap.htm

Drive past the Laurelwood Golf Course up 27th St then at the top of the hill turn right onto Spring Blvd, a one lane road. When Spring Blvd deadheads, turn left onto Central and immediately look for the Obsidians Inc. sign and gate (driveway) to your right. Enter the driveway and follow the gravel road to the parking areas and Lodge. Members are welcome to sign up to help answer questions.

Trip Report

Eight guests and four members beat the rain for this month's Get Acquainted Hike. Lots of good information about the club was shared by members to the group. Karen stood at the confusing place where Spring Blvd. ends and directed guests which way to go. Her efforts were greatly appreciated! Denise shared some tidbits about Hendricks Park and the Ribbon Trail. A bonus: the wildflowers are starting to bloom along the trail.

For people interested in leading this hike, I recommend being an Assistant Leader first so you know what all is entailed, which isn't a lot. We will need leaders beginning with the May hike. This is a very pleasant outing to be part of.
