Ridgeline Ivy Removal

Description:

This is a trail maintenance outing to remove ivy from the Ridgeline Trail near the Blanton trail head. We will hike in about 1/4 mile with our gear. The ivy patch is about 100 yards long. It was rescheduled from 2/15/2011

  • Supplies and Equipment Required: Bring boots and rain gear plus your water, lunch and snacks. The most used tools are hand nippers... bring what you have. I will bring an adz, a hoe and shovel plus a pair of long handled nippers. I think one of each should be enough unless we have a large group.

Trip Report

We were proud of our ivy removal. The small patch was removed... and we even got lot of the roots. We also made a significant dent on the large ivy patch by the bridge. We put about 8 man-hours into the project and are planning to go again... there are a lot of blackberries if we run out of ivy. The ivy removal team was Jim Whitfield, Donald Burton and Jim Pierce.
