Description:

We will be continuing our work along the Blanton section of the Ridgeline Trail clearing back brush from the trailside and filling in holes left by the rootwads of trees that fell during this winter's storms. Some of us will get to wheelbarrow gravel to the holes.

Meet at the Willamette and 52nd street trailhead parking lot, the gravel lot on Willamette.

Trip Report

Dev, Eugene Parks and Open Space staff, met us at the Solar Heights Drive staging area with a truck filled with rocks and gravel and a trailer filled with unmotorized wheelbarrows.

Fortunately there was a wheelbarrow for each of us. Fortunately the loads were not heavy. Fortunately the distance to the root wad hole was near by. Fortunately all of us kept our wheelbarrows under control going downhill. We first filled the hole with rocks and then dumped load after load of gravel over the rocks. We watched Dev and Jim complete the last task, running the compactor back and forth over the gravel. It was a rewarding and fun project. It took 2 1/2 hours. Lemonade and cookies hit the spot.

Jim Northrop was invaluable. He shoveled rocks/gravel into the wheelbarrows, carried heavier loads than the rest of us, and helped Dev lift the compactor into the wheelbarrow.
