Trip Report

Don Hunter ("Mr. Audio-Visual") showed slides of his four-day 35-mile Arizona trip through Paria Canyon to Lee’s Ferry at the May 26 Lodge potluck - a visual delight thoroughly enjoyed by the attentive audience.

Don’s 1990 trip began as a Hunter family reunion for Don and his brother and their families. His slides captured the grandeur and color of the canyon walls and contrasted with the Lilliputian size of the hikers. On a side trip up Buckskin Canyon, they walked chest high in the river.

Don told how his doctor gave him permission to take this trip since it would be "down hill". On the last day as they left the 60-degree weather of the canyon and hiked through hotter areas that required some ups and downs, the family members aided their fathers by carrying their packs.

Not only was this slide show very inspiring, it was seen as a tribute to the Hunter family who share their love of the outdoors with each other. - Jan Jacobsen
