River Path North

Description:

Our path will start at the Greenway Bike Bridge behind Valley River Center. We’ll head north on the East Bank Trail and reach the shops on the north side of Green Acres Road. At this time we can get lunch/snack/coffee. (Last year most people chose lunch at Café Yumm.) Then we’ll re-trace our steps until we come to the Owosso Bike Bridge. After crossing the river here, our path heads south on a short section on streets. Then on to West Bank Path. The Greenway Bridge returns us to our starting point.

Trip Report

The timing for this hike was perfect between rainstorms. A few sprinkles were falling as the five of us headed north on the bike path at 10:00, but the rain stopped almost immediately. We enjoyed a dry, brisk walk, a good lunch at Café Yumm, and a walk back on the opposite side of the river. As we said our goodbyes, a few raindrops began to fall and then turned to a downpour as I drove home. We were all glad the gray skies and morning rain had not deterred us from the hike this morning.
