Trip Report

Obsidian's inaugural Gym to Crag course was a resounding success! We kicked off on Tuesday with an introductory session, a skills assessment, and lessons on cleaning and building anchors. By Friday, we gathered at the columns, where everyone had a chance to build a climbing anchor, climb to the top, and clean an anchor while on top rope. The adventure continued on Saturday at Eagles Rest, where we introduced the group to lead climbing and lead belaying. Although the group initially practiced lead climbing while on top-rope, they surpassed all expectations by the afternoon, successfully leading their first outdoor climbs. As the day came to a close, some participants led their second climb, while others ventured up the extensive slab known as Bohemian "Slab"city.
