Trip Report

The winter storm changed our Salt Creek Falls hike plans to a Gold Lake snow park outing. Our snowshoe hike lead us past the Mountainview Shelter and on to the Odell Lake viewpoint. There was 18" of new "light/dry" snow (Unusual because Oregon's snow is often "wet and heavy"). We used our tire chains to maneuver the parking lot. I'm glad we had a couple of small snow shovels along. The state police were issuing $110 tickets to cars parking on the highway, not the snowpack. A Pine Marten was seen crossing our trail.
