Trip Report

It was a perfect day to linger on the summit and enjoy the views of the Cascade peaks. It was even better when later, each of us slowly or quickly plunged into Tenas Lake for a leisurely swim. Everyone had read the trip description and brought fashionable swim attire. I envied those who had towels and flip flops. We encountered few hikers even though the dusty parking lot at the trailhead was jammed with cars. After our hike we sat in the shade by the trailhead outhouse devouring brownies and cold beverages and watching a parade of cars turn around unable to find a parking space. We gave a thumbs up for our early 7:00 am departure! Dave Predeek shared that his first trip to the summit of Mt. Scott was in 1967 to fight a forest fire . Records show that Dave has led Scott Mountain 18 times, many of these from the north side. Dave said that an abandoned trail up the north side still has slash marks on trees that were put there probably a hundred years ago. .
