Description:

Enjoy stops at Tenas and Benson Lakes on the way to the summit, the site of a lookout destroyed around 1960. The views of the Cascade Peaks make a perfect place for lunch.

Driving: we will drive up McKenzie Highway 242 turning north between mileposts 71 and 72 (Scott Lake pointer) on to gravel road ,1.5 miles to parking area. It has a restroom. If there is a miserable weather forecast, I will probably substitute a Pisgah hike.

Some may want to plan for a stop at Takodas after the hike.

Trip Report

A sunny day with great views and for some, a quick dip in cold Tenas Lake. Thanks to Darko who figured out that the two hikers who were to meet us at the trailhead were back out at the parking near the highway. We recommend that the meeting place should be a known location with cell phone reception. All of us were happy that we were at last united and started hiking up the trail together. A wonderful day ending with a stop at Takodas.

The July Bulletin is online now.
