Description:
This will be a level and shady out-and-back hike through some big ol' trees in the Waldo Lake Wilderness. There
will be a couple of stream crossings, so plan on getting your feet wet. It may be buggy.
We'll begin our hike in an old-growth Douglas Fir forest, crossing Skookum Creek and following the trail which forms the boundaries of the Waldo Lake Wilderness and the Three Sisters Wilderness. We'll continue through a grove of huge, magnificent old cedars and stop for lunch on the banks of the North Fork of the Middle Fork of the Willamette River.
The trailhead is at a pullout on the Aufderheide Scenic Byway, so the drive is paved the whole way and suitable for all vehicle types.
