Description:

This is the classic Ten Falls Loop Trail from the South Falls parking lot. After the Silver Creek Falls hike, you can either choose to drive back to Eugene or join me to drive 28 miles to the Abiqua Falls trailhead to hike an additional two miles RT to view the beautiful Abiqua Falls. Doing both hikes is an all-day adventure, so we'll be stopping for dinner in the Salem area at The Yard Food Park after the hike. There is a $10 fee per vehicle at Silver Creek Falls. I've rated this hike as moderate for the Silver Falls hike; however, with Abiqua Falls, it becomes difficult because of the scramble to the falls. The featured image shows the trail down to the falls. Note that this trip is weather-dependent. If necessary, I'll move the date to find a dry day to do this hike.
We'll meet at the Springfield Fred Meyer just north of the fuel station and depart at 7:30am. Suggested donation to driver is $16 to $22.

Trip Report

Winter storms at Silver Falls State Park have closed off access to both North and Upper North Falls; however, we were still able to view the other eight falls in the beautiful Trail of Ten Falls loop. We started our hike from the North Canyon District parking area and had a very pleasant lunch at the South Falls Lodge before returning to our trailhead. After our hike, we drove past the town of Scott\'s Mills to take the challenging drive and short scramble to view Abiqua Falls, one of Oregon\'s most beautiful waterfalls. We completed our adventure with dinner at The Yard Food Park (we really need one of these in Eugene) before driving home.
