Silver Falls State Park

  • Start date: 02/12/2026

  • Start time: 8:00 AM

Description:

Silver Falls State Park is Oregon's most popular state park and home to ten spectacular waterfalls. On this hike we'll visit at least seven of the falls on a well-marked loop trail. The farthest portion of the park is closed due to storm damage, but it is still possible to do a great loop of 5+ miles around the park. The trail is muddy and rocky in spots, so hiking boots are a must. Suggested donation to driver $18.36, plus a portion of the $10 per car parking fee.

Trip Report

A lovely day. Five Obsidians took a foggy drive up I-5 to exit 238, then wound our way through backroads to Silver Hills State Park in Silverton. From the South Falls Day Use Area we walked clockwise approximately 5.2 miles on the Trail of Ten Falls. Each waterfall was beautiful and unique and we were awed by the sights and sounds of this magnificent park. The north section of the trail was closed due to weather damage, but the trail signage was clear and we returned to the Day Use Area via the Rim Trail. A park host informed us the north section should reopen in the spring, so a return trip is definitely in order. Following the hike, we relaxed by the fireplace in the park\'s cafe and wandered in the gift shops.
