Trip Report

Thanks to Norm Benton’s fine photography, about 60 Obsidians and guests experienced (vicariously for most of us!) the challenge of trying to scale 20,000-ft. peaks. Norm’s extensive travels covered that part of western South America (Ecuador to Patagonia) where life begins above 10,000 ft. - the frosting on the cake, so to speak.

Views of the harsh crags and shear snow fields were very nicely counterbalanced by many photos of spectacular flora and of the very charming South American children.

Even the Lodge temperature on this February 28 night matched the show - the heaters had not been turned on! But a roaring log fire and great food served to warm the flesh. - Bep Fontana
