Trip Report

On Saturday afternoon 5 eager climbers left Devils Lake parking lot and hiked to the area above Moraine Lake and camped. Included were Paula Abrams and David Blount from Portland, Caroline Forell, Dick Hildreth and Jerry Mohler from Eugene.

It was sunny, but cool weather. The stars at night were fabulous, and along with a full moon, was a sight to see. On Sunday we left at 6:30 a.m. for the summit, and arrived 4 hours later. Had a good lunch on top, and was back to the car by 3:30 p.m. This was the first mountain climb for three in the group. We soaked our tired feet in the creek at Devils Lake. I never knew water could be that cold! Afterwards an enormous dinner at McDonalds in Bend, and home by 8:00 p.m. Very enjoyable weekend.
