Trip Report

On Saturday morning, Oct. 10, our group of seven headed out to climb the South Sister. We camped Saturday night at Green Lakes with a sharp chill in the air and a perfectly clear sky for all star-gazers. Jan Anselmo is without doubt the best satellite spotter in the group. Later, when the moon came out it was very light outside and seemed to warm up. Most climbers reported unzipping their sleeping bags to compensate for the rise in temperature! This night-time temperature increase was explained to us the following morning by our expedition weather scientist, Rich Anselmo. We left Green Lakes by 7:00 and were on top by 12:00. The weather was mild with good views of both North and Middle. The climbers were Doris Allen, Jan and Rich Anselmo, "first-time-on-top-of-a-mountain Jan Sherady," Chris Shuraleff, Terry Wilson and Tom Donnelly (leader).
