Trip Report

After meeting leaders in Oakridge, the group boogied up the road to Green Lakes Trailhead. We started hiking around 3:30 p.m. The Green Lakes area was quite crowded and one had to "pack a lunch and water for any walk to find a private comfort station." The moon was full Saturday night and quite a sight to see. It seemed like someone was shining a light into your tent.

Climbers left at 6 a.m. We beat the heat and had a nice breeze the whole trip up. We summitted 3½ hours later. Two events on top … first time on top for Marilyn Nersesian. Also … (drum roll!!!) … peak number 10 for Jerry Crosby!!! After presenting Jerry with an Obsidian tee shirt and an official 10 patch, we lounged around for an hour or so. Smoke and pollution were bad though we could still see Diamond and Jefferson and closer peaks. After arriving back at camp, we all cooled down in the lake. The hike out went fairly quickly because it was so hot and dusty. I guess everyone was thinking of drinks with lots and lots of ice.
