Trip Report

From Devils Lake seven of party took the climber's trail to the plateau and set up camp. Ken Ball and Rick Peterson camped at Green Lakes after climbing Broken Top on Saturday.

Party of seven left camp at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, met Ken and Rick at Red Ridge at 9 a.m., party of 9 made summit at 11 a.m.

After one hour rest on summit, in good weather, we started down as thunder clouds formed, going down the Red Ridge we had thunder, lightning, showers, and everyone's hair stood on end. Broken Top took on a look of splendor as it received a coat of white hail.

After a rest in camp during a break in storm we departed down the steep trail in rain and hail. Arrived cars at 4 p.m.

Everyone, except the leader, departed for home, leader departed for Idaho to escape the rat-race for a week.
