Trip Report

Saturday, 5:30 p.m. The climbing party of eight met for a great dinner at Shad’s Restaurant at Crescent Lake Junction. 7:15 Arrived at Devil’s Lake for car camp. Sunday, 5:00 a.m. Up and at 'em! 6:15 Started out on wrong trail from parking lot but soon back-tracked down the road to the climbers’ trail. 8:00 Crossed Moraine Lake trail on plateau (weather: fog). 11:30 Encountered light snow half-way up Red Ridge. Noon. Party arrived at summit with leader bringing up rear shortly thereafter (snowing hard, moderate wind, low visibility.) 3:30 p.m. Finally got below snow line on way down the plateau. 4:20 Arrived at Devil’s Lake parking lot. 5:30 Party returned to Shad’s Restaurant for light meal after a long, hard day for nonmembers Tracy Hanes, Naima Harpel and Kelly Petewon, and Obsidians Dallas Hemphill, Michael Landes, Judy & Larry Smith and Wes Prouty, leader.
