Trip Report

A beautiful late fall day that was more like summer, clear and warm. We left Devils Lake trailhead at 9 a.m., most of us getting to the top in early afternoon. This is truly one of the most spectacular hikes in the NW with close-up views of South Sister Peak and Broken Top on the way up, then Middle and North Sisters from the top, as well as Jefferson, Hood, Adams, and occasionally Rainier far to the north, and of course Shasta to the south. Climbers were: non-Obsidians Cecile Blumm, Mitch & Leah Temple, and David Merdith; and Obsidians Andrew Blumm, Bob Burnett, Mary Croson, Miles Hollander, Karen Frost, Arlene Deyo, and Buzz Blumm (leader).
