Trip Report

A full house of Obsidians and guests was treated to spectacular photography by Dave Stone: the result of many trips to the National and State Parks of Southern Utah.

Dave showed the photographs accompanied only by background music (without verbal narrative) to aid the viewers to experience virtual perception. The subsequent question and answer period revealed that Dave had generated considerable interest in the area.

In stark contrast to our Northwest, the area is devoid of forest; however, the geologic formations are varied and very spectacular. Many of the rock formations manifest Mother Nature’s skill as a sculptress. The only hand of man that appeared on the rock faces was in the form of Indian petroglyphs.

At close hand, Dave showed wild flowers and cacti that brighten the harsh surface of the land and a variety of wildlife that inhabits the rock crevices.
