Trip Report

For this month\'s outing we found out at the last minute that we were to work in Amazon Headwaters Park on the upper and lower Ridgeline trails clearing drainages. So we switched the meeting location to the Fox Hollow Trailhead parking lot. While we waited Oliver and Dan helped Janet get some bottles and cans out of the blackberries around the parking lot. We first hiked in on the lower trail down to the fiberglass boardwalk on the Dillard Connector Trail stopping along the way to clear the ditch and double culverts at the trail junction with the Pipe Dream mountain biking trail. We let the City know that the outflows require some chainsaw work. At the fiberglass boardwalk Dan dug under it to create a path for the water the Bell boys tackled digging down through a high point for the remaining water to flow beside instead of on the boardwalk. Janet, Pat, and the Bell boys then searched for a non-existent additional ditch and culvert on the Dillard Connector Trail. We hiked up to the upper trail and began clearing drainages and culverts and were only thwarted by one culvert being too small for our garden hoe to fit inside owing to it being a pvc pipe instead of the standard corrugated pipe. After finishing up we hiked back to the trailhead for snacks and juice. <br />

Special thanks go to Janet for bringing delicious snacks and Clara for cleaning the Main Trailhead steps.
