Trip Report

For our first outing of the new our group of volunteers met Josh Schrader of the Parks and Open Space division to work to finish up the rock work we have been doing on the lower section of the West Trail. Our group made fairly short work of adding the armoring to 4 of the drainage features and improving 2 steps. We also spent some time removing sticks, logs, and other debris from the drainage ditches that someone had piled in them. Because we can never quit early, we used the extra time we had to transplant sword ferns to the trail sides to help create a more narrow and natural looking trail corridor.

Clara Emlen worked diligently to clean the kiosk and stairs. Roberta and Autumn worked around the parking lot clearing duff along the edges as well as unclogged the drainage grates.
