Description:

This is an an aerobic hike with few stops. Come a few minutes early so we can leave on time. The hike takes around 2 hours and 45 minutes. To get to the trailhead: Take West Amazon to Martin Street. Turn left. Drive past Kinney Park and park on Martin at the Kiosk sign board across from Canyon Drive Street sign with hiker symbol. Please call the leader if any questions. One can take LTD Bus #28 to Martin Street.

Trip Report

Cold trip up the mountain this morning. It was -2C at Martin and snow was present before we reached the Tie Trail. The steps were icy after the second group, and it got more and more treacherous as we went up. There were a couple of falls; fortunately, none was serious. The views were mostly of fog but occasionally The Sisters and Broken Top were visible along with Mt. Jefferson. Coming down was even more treacherous, but it helped that Dave Cooper had a ball peen hammer, which we used to good effect knocking the ice off a few of the steps. We all got back down in one piece and look forward to seeing snow up there again!
