Description:

Update: This will be a check and clear/brush the trail. Last Saturday, it took 3 hours to clear from Blanton Trailhead to the Blanton Heights summit sign. Bring gloves,. Hard hat. Possibly a rake, or other hand tools that you think would be helpful. It will be at least a week before the city crew clears the big ones with a chain saw. To get to the trailhead: Take West Amazon to Martin Street. Turn left. Drive past Kinney Park and park on Martin at the Kiosk sign board across from Canyon Drive Street sign with hiker symbol. Please call the leader if any questions. One can take LTD Bus #28 to Martin Street.

Watch for updates. I plan to check out the trail on Tuesday. If it is not safe to work on the trail, I plan for us to walk the sidewalks going the Butte To Butte route.

Trip Report

The recent ice storm played havoc with the Ridgeline Trail. With our goal to clear the Amazon Headwaters Trail, we split into two groups, one starting at the Fox Hollow and the other at the Martin Trailhead. With our personal handsaws, loppers, and rakes we were able to brush all of the trail. A large tree root was the biggest obstacle. The trail now awaits the Park and Open Space staff to use their chain saws to remove the large trees and rebuilt a few sections of the trail.
