Description:

This is our weekly aerobic hike starting at Martin Street Trailhead up to Spencer Butte. We can accommodate most all hiker speeds in this group. We start promptly at 8:15AM so come a few minutes early to check in. Wear appropriate clothing for the weather.

To get to the trailhead: Take West Amazon to Martin Street. Turn left. Drive past Kinney Park and park on Martin Street at the Kiosk sign board across from Canyon Drive Street sign with hiker symbol. Please call the leader if any questions. One can take LTD Bus #28 to Martin Street.

Trip Report

It was great to have 4 non-members join us on our hike. Henry (the Cooper's 5-year-old grandson) joined his grandpa & Janet in cleaning up the trail of 'Doggy Bags'. Henry did great on the hike, and was congratulated for doing his first Obsidian doggy duty!. Tommy's grandson got a Membership packet to become a Junior member.

The air was affected by smoke from the forest fires. www.lrapa.org said the Air Quality Index was 152 (just barely into the 'Unhealthy' range of 151-200) at 8AM, but by 9AM is had improved drastically to 117 (Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups). There is a good chance it was <151 by our 8:15 start time -- but still definitely a smoky day.
