Description:

The Amazon Headwaters Trail is closed during the week for trail improvements but will be open on week ends if trail conditions are safe. It is interesting to see the construction progress to widen a trail section. We will start by taking the Erin Noble Headwaters trail at the end of Martin St. to the usual start of the Amazon Trail. It is very short side trail that is part of the Ridgeline Trail System and fun to see the connection.
The pace is moderate and/or almost moderate-- possibly we would have two groups once we reach Fox Hollow. You can head down from the summit as fast as you need.

Trip Report

An overcast morning with some mist made for a pleasant hike overflowing with conversation. Gwyneth shared information about the Erin Noble Headwaters at the beginning of our hike. The section of the Amazon Headwaters trail hat is being widened now has webbing below the new sideboards on the steep slope to prevent erosion. The official opening of the Amazon Headwaters Trail was September 3, 2005.
