Description:

Start early to avoid the heat and crowds. The Tie Trail is open on week-ends so we can see the continuing repair work. The hike takes around 2 hours round trip. I will have a cherry snack to share on top.

If you need a 10 K to remind you of the Butte to Butte race, you can always hike to Dillard and back before or after our hike.

Trip Report

Hiking the butte to celebrate the 4th of July is a grand substitute for the annual Butte to Butte race. George and his son drove up from Roseburg to join us for the early 7:00 am departure. This was the third week-end hike I have led to check out Tie Trail, closed on weekdays for repair.
We estimate they have completed 2/3rds of the work. It is going much faster than expected so perhaps the Tie Trail will open earlier than expected. To celebrate on top, I served yogurt, sour cherry sauce, blueberry parfait including Richard Hughes and Lana Lindstrom whom we met on the way down.
