Description:

Our project has changed due to the winter storm we experienced earlier in the month. We will be hiking in and breaking into small groups to try to clear storm debris from the trail, trailsides, and drainage features of the Ridgleline and Tie Trails.

Trip Report

Due to the snow and ice storm we experienced in early February this month's outing was changed to focus on cleaning up storm debris.

Our group met up at the Willamette & 52nd trailhead. We divided tools and began hiking into the park to try to cleanup as much of the Ridgeline and Tie trails as possible. For this work we would be breaking off into small groups along the way.

Clara and Roberta and her grandkids worked on expanding the drainage ditch in the low wet area just before the first switchbacks. They cut back new and old storm debris and did some very muddy digging to extend the ditch to drain water that has been softening and puddling on the trail.

The rest of us hiked into the Tie Trail junction. There we broke into 2 groups. One group consisting of Dan, Dave, Paris, Mark, and I hiked to Fox Hollow & Junction Meadow and worked back. The other group of Janet, David, Pat, and Connie hiked to Fox Hollow road and worked back. We worked raking loose material off the trail and scraping dough off of section to help them drain, checking and cleaning superficially drains, and throwing storm debris away from the trail.
