We will meet at 2890 Chad Drive, St. Vincent de Paul office in Eugene.
This is a 2nd guided St.Vincent de Paul (SVdP) tour for Obsidians but this time we will see their recycling facilities, bookstore operations and social enterprise sites. Did you know that SVdP is the mattress-recycling leader in Oregon and nationally? And that in 2024 SVdP recycled 20 million pounds of mattresses & box springs, electronics, styrofoam, scrap metal, paper, textiles? Our Tour will begin and end at their Chad Drive administrative office (2890 Chad Drive, Eugene) and will last approximately 2-2 1/2 hours. Parking is available on-site. My contact for this tour is Darrel Kau who is the Community Engagement Director.
Note: We will be driven around in their vans with the Development Team from the office to the various sites and then back to the office. Tour stops include:
1. Book Warehouse – Sorting and distributing donated books for online resale
2. Mattress Recycling Center – Diverting thousands of mattresses from landfills each year
3. SVdP Car Lot & Appliance Recycling Center – Repairing, reselling, and responsibly recycling donated vehicles and appliances
4. Clothing Warehouse – Processing textiles for reuse and recycling
