Trip Report

The informal "Summer Highlights" program at the November 16 potluck (replacing the Thanksgiving potluck) turned out to be a memorable evening. Obsidians did it again. Bob Dark began by showing slides of early Obsidian trips taken by Ray Sims. Of interest were slides of receding Collier Glacier, fancy climbing attire and the large number of people on these trips.

Slides of a ten-day back pack trip in the Eagle Cap Wilderness presented by Karin Thompson were breathtaking. Shirley Froyd's slides of Switzerland had excellent views of mountains. Tom Donnelly shared his slides of his Mt. McKinley climb. He captured the hard work of setting up camp, building snow walls, cooking and combined it with panoramic views of the mountain. We can't thank Tom enough for buying a camera for this trip, taking the right pictures and giving such a personal glimpse of the climb. Congratulations to Bill Bankston and Tom for making it to the top.
