Description:

Meet at 25th Ave. and Hawkins Lane (off West 18th) in front of the Hawkins Reservoir for a hike in the Southwest hills.

First we will take a short walk to the historic Mulkey Cemetery. From there we'll walk sidewalks and some very steep neighborhood paths up to Iris Ridge park to walk the upper loop trail with views of the valley. We'll return to our cars on sidewalks and paths back to our car.
There are signs warning that the steep, narrow, concrete paths may be hazardous and one uses them at one's own risk.

Trip Report

The sun was shining but there was still frost in the shadows as we toured Mulkey cemetery noting the headstones that reflected many local place names. We followed paved neighborhood off-street paths along a tiny creek up to the Iris Ridge Summit Sky trailhead and walked the upper loop in the park to the main upper trailhead at Bailey View Drive. After pausing to enjoy the view we returned to our cars on sidewalks and a few off-street paths.Members: Carla Cooper, Dave Cooper, Steve Adey, Nancy Whitfield, Dorothy van Winkle, Evelyn Nagy.
