Trip Report

Given that the weather was to be cool and showery, I expected many more cancellations. To my surprise nine hikers did participate. We drove to the trailhead off of Waldo Road through light rain hoping for a break in the weather. Instead of rain we experienced snow both on the ground and as we gained elevation in the form of showers. The group steadily made way to the loop taking us towards Charlton Lake. We then connected with the slope coming off the South Twin and ascended to the trail to the North Peak where we had lunch sitting in the snow. Good views were not to be had but the day’s conditions made for a fun challenge. We continued on the loop to the Charlton Lake intersection and then back to the cars. All participants came prepared and easily completed the hike in four and a half hours. Thanks to the hikers that were willing to adventure out when staying home seemed tempting.
