Trip Report

Camped at Jack Lake Saturday night in balmy weather under bright stars but amid an army of archery hunters. Sunday morning at daylight we trekked up the mountain via the First Creek route to find ourselves behind a group of 10 very slow climbers that had the mountain substantially tied up. In our three-hour delay we celebrated Jim's 39th birthday, complete with cake, enjoyed the tremendous views of most of the other Oregon mountains, and at least one of us got himself sunburned. After our eventual turn at the summit we descended via Moraine Lake and the Canyon Creek Meadows Trail. Returning to Jack Lake as twilight quit and darkness set in were Wendy Boyd, Jim Farwell, Jane Hackett and Gene Thaxton (leader).
