Trip Report

This was the first day of a "Jobanek Memorial Two-fer". The night was rather breezy, and that condition continued during our climb. After passing three young climbers camped at the pond shortly before the climbers trail, we decided to pick up our pace a bit so as to ensure that we were the first to "The Crawl". A mountain goat was sighted high on the mountain - one of the 47 that had been released on the Warm Springs Reservation less than three weeks earlier. It had traveled at least 15 miles in that time! We were to the base of the chimney by 8:30. Though all summitted, only two braved standing up on the true summit - it was still rather breezy. We were back down off the ridge by noon, and back to the cars at 2:35. Several of us cooled off at Suttle Lake, then had pizza at Papandreas in Sisters to fuel up for the Washington climb on Sunday. Thanks to Doug, my assistant on this climb, for ensuring a smooth trip.
