Description:

The trailhead is south of Florence abut 10 miles. This is a combination trail going through old growth forest, the dunes and along the beach. We do see a bit of the north end of 3 Mile Lake. At this time of year we will see some wildflowers. I believe we will miss the salamander migration which happens earlier in the spring. We will stop in old town Florence for coffee and a snack on are way back home.

Trip Report

A perfect summer day at the beach. This was the first time on this hike for several people and it was very much enjoyed by all. This hike has good combination of forest, dunes and beach. We spent about an hour on the beach, eating lunch and walking. The temperature was pleasant. The breeze cool so a few folks laid on the warm sand behind our lunch log out of the wind. We continued on to the view point for Three Mile Lake. It was striking in the sun. Our return to the trailhead was followed by a stop in Old Town for coffee and ice cream.
