Trip Report

Our group of volunteers met on a brisk Saturday morning at the newly re-opened Main Trailhead. Newly re-opened after having heavy equipment remove all the downed logs from the ice storm. After a quick discussion of the days tasks and safety we hiked up the Main Trail to the Tie Trail Junction. We then headed down the Tie Trail to the bench to mostly start our work for the day. The Bells headed further down the trail to clear an outflow that we'd missed the Saturday before before returning to the group. Everyone raked or pitched storm debris from the trail, drainage ditches and drainage outflows. We were impressed that a couple of the trees managed to land perfectly in the outflows. For obvious reasons we were unable to clear those. We made great time working our way back to the Tie Trail Junction in time for treats supplied by Janet. We took about the last half hour lightly clearing the Main Trail on our way back to the trailhead for juice and cookies. We were greatly amused by the youthful exuberance of the Bell boys as they retrieved a cup casually discarded in a very steep location.
