Description:

For this outing we'll be hiking up from Willamette and 52nd to extend a drainage ditch and clear debris from the trail sides to improve drainage.

Meet at the Willamette & 52nd Trailhead parking lot, the gravel lot on Willamette. There is additional parking available along 52nd.

Trip Report

For this outing we worked independently to improve the drainage and clear debris from a deadfall beside the Rdigeline trail. Our group hiked up the Ridgeline into Spencer Butte Park from the Willamette and 52nd Trailhead parking lot. We stopped to assess the deadfall of most of the large fir beside the trail. The debris was catching and holding water on the trail, something that is detrimental to the longevity of the trail. We broke into 2 groups with a few people staying behind to quickly scatter the debris and restore the ability of the trail tread to shed water. The rest of our group continued on to the long drainage ditch just below the switchbacks to clear and extend it. We made short work of the tasks and were able to hike out a little early a rare treat for our volunteers.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />
