Description:

For this outing we'll be hiking up the Ridgeline and Tie trails from the Fox Hollow trailhead and working our way back out cutting back woody brush and blackberries.

Trip Report

For our first Wednesday evening outing of our summer schedule, the City asked us to cut back woody vegetation from the sides of the Ridgeline and Tie trails coming up from the Fox Hollow Trailhead. We hiked up working lightly as we went until our group reached the open drain on the Tie Trail. Then, we worked our way back to the trailhead. As went our group realized that the Ridgeline and Tie Trails were actually in need of brushing focusing on softer stemmed plants due to the copious stinging nettles and blackberries growing near and overhanging the trail. On our way we enjoyed pointing out rare plants that can be seen from the trail including Golden Chinquapin, Phantom Orchid, and a rare red non-chlorophyll flower that we\'re not certain the name of. <br />

Special thanks go to Clara for meticulously cutting back blackberries from the edges of the Fox Hollow Trailhead parking lot and to Janet for bringing delicious treats.
