Trip Report

For this outing our group of intrepid volunteers met up at the Willamette & 52nd parking lot to find it nearly devoid of vehicles likely due to the evenings heat. We enjoyed ample parking. Distributed waters to all participants before grabbing tools and hiking up to the junction of the Ridgeline and Tie trails. Along the way we spooked a deer off in the brush. After reaching the junction we began working our way back to the trailhead cutting back soft-stemmed plants with weed cutters and woody brush with loppers and handclippers, we even used a saw once. As we worked our way back we stopped near an old log and were stunned to see a garter snake resting atop it. As we enjoyed the view another garter snake slithered over the log. We hiked out quickly and cutback poison oak and trailing blackberries as we went. Back at the trailhead we enjoyed snacks and drinks and unfortunately realized that I\'d transferred a sugar and cluster into my pickup when I put in the cooler with the juice from the City.<br />

Special thanks go to Janet for bringing the energy balls to keep us going and the bread to help us have the energy to get home.
