Description:

Meeting place: Steps of Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. Buildings will not be accessible; bathroom break possible at Starbucks or Market of Choice on Franklin. UO COVID policy allow going without masks outdoors as of May 20; masks required inside buildings.

We'll walk at a leisurely pace around basically a wide perimeter of campus, including the new Knight Science Campus across Franklin. Summer is almost here; let's see how the landscape differs from the last season.

Trip Report

Everyone had a most enjoyable campus wanderabout. Old Campus, New Science Complex and Millrace with new native plantings along the bank, Stafford Homestead Squarem Women's Memorial Quad. Weather was just right, cool and sunny. Near the Science and Cultural Museum, excitement, barriers, and drug-sniffing canines, setting up for the next day's start of the U. S. Olympic Track & Field Trials. We ended by entering Tykeson Hall and explored its interesting interior spaces and decor. Our look at some unusual plants and trees was assisted by input from Jane Brubaker, University of Oregon Landscape Designer who had met with Joanna the week before: Stewartia Japonica, Black Bamboo, Yellow Buckeye, Chief Joseph Pine.
