Description:

Departure location: Pisgah Public Market parking lot in Pleasant Hill - 35851 Hwy 58. Take the Oakridge exit off of I-5. After 4 miles watch for the Maill on your left after the 76 gas station. Park in the middle of the parking lot by the light pole.

This is an exploratory hike for me. Trail miles and elevation gain are approximate using GPS technology. We will be hiking the old road between Hills Creek Rd and Upper Fall Creek Rd. I have driven to both ends and have talked to people who have hiked or biked the road.
We need four drivers who can take five per car. We will park two on the Hills Creek entrance and drive to the end of Upper Fall Creek Rd where we will start our hike.

Trip Report

Our exploratory trip was a success. We dropped two cars off at the Hills Creek Rd trail head and with six we could fit in my SUV to drive and park at the Upper Fall Creek Rd trail head. It took the group a couple of minutes to determine which of three logging roads was the Weyerhaeuser Haul Rd. We choose correctly and were on our way. For future trips it's the one on the left. I knew we might run into some trees across the road from this winters snow storm but it turned out to be about 50 trees over the first four miles. We had quite the aerobic workout going over, under and around many trees often a group 4-5 trees together. Good citizens had begun to clear the last half of the road. The road wound through forested land, a few view spots and a few logged areas. Perfect weather. The road had packed gravel and will be a good close to town hike when it is wet and muddy on other trails.
