Vivian Lake via Salt Creek Falls

  • Start date: 09/21/2025

  • Start time: 7:00 AM

Description:

Vivian Lake, a few waterfalls, and a view of Mount Yoran await us on this hike. The hike begins at the beautiful Salt Creek Falls (286 ft) and runs along a canyon rim to the 100 ft Diamond Creek Falls. The trail continues across a road and begins climbing along Fall Creek on its way to Fall Creek Falls. We will continue on another mile or so to Vivian Lake where we will take a lunch break before returning back the way we came.

We will meet at the LCC east parking lot and leave promptly at 7:00 am. We will take Hwy 58 through Oakridge and a bit past the Hwy 58 tunnel, turn right at the Salt Creek Falls sign, and park at a nice picnic area with restrooms. Please be in shape to walk two miles per hour.

Trip Report

Three beautiful falls with Diamond Creek Falls being especially beautiful today. We had some sun most of the morning. There were a few trees across the trail past the halfway point, but nothing insurmountable. Clouds came in at the end of our lunch break at Vivian Lake, and we had a slight sprinkle of rain for a bit. We kept a good pace and were back at the trailhead early. This was a very enjoyable hike with excellent hiking weather.
