Description:

We'll park at Salt Creek Falls and hike up the left side of "Too Much Bear" Lake. On return will loop left via Diamond Creek Falls and back down to Salt Creek. My opinion: route is challenging, almost 4 miles up hill to the lake. The first 2 miles are moderate, but the 2nd half is strenuous. The plan had been to take a relaxing break at the lake before heading back, now that will based on weather. If the weather doesn't hold, we might turn around at Fall Creek Falls. TBD.

Weather update: cold and rain, be prepared with appropriate layers / rain gear and water proof boots.

Trip Report

7 enthusiastic hikers were ready to brave the cold and rain today. It was cold, but happily, very little rain. This hike has so much to offer in addition to Vivian Lake, 3 waterfalls; Salt Creek, Fall Creek Falls and Diamond Falls. Most had not been to either before.

At Vivian, we encountered just a hint of snow on the ground, and much more was sticking to the mountain above the lake! It was too cold to hang out for very long. So we warmed back up by hiking down and took the left trail via Diamond Falls, passed several viewpoints and back to the cars. All agreed, a very nice day!
