Trip Report

Our adventurous group drove to the cloudy Waldport and accessed beach trail-head via Bayshore neighborhood. In windy and occasionally drizzly weather we hiked smooth sandy shore all north to the Little Cove Scenic Point crossing four shallow creeks. There we realized that we cannot continue further north due to wild waves crashing into Little Cove beach. Sheltered under oceanside cliffs and encouraged with few shay sun rays we enjoyed lunch with first class views. In that point our plan was to return.
But it was our lucky day. After just couple of hundreds yard walking back, Keiko discovered access to OCT (Oregon Coast Trail), so we continued walking north through funky neighborhood in Sitka spruce forest, and then back to the wide beach. After crossing two more creeks we arrived at the Seal Rock State Wayside surrounded with spectacular rock formations.
Succeeding the brief visit of Seal Rock area, we hiked back same way on the beach loaded with huge pillows of Sea Phytoplankton foam, sign of healthy ocean.
Propelled with 20 MPH NNW wind we arrived to our starting point at 2:10PM.
Ice cream parlor at Yachats was our brief stop before rainy and windy drive back to Eugene.
