Description:

Meet by the Hendricks Park shelter, across from the parking lot at Fairmount and Floral Hill.

We will start on the Ribbon Trail, then head down to Laurel Hill Park and up to Moon Mountain, Black Oak Basin and Bloomberg Park. Expect a lot of up and down and up and down. The walk will be partly on city sidewalks and partly on rough, unimproved trails with possible muddy areas.

My goal for about three hours at a moderate pace. Much of the route is urban and/or familiar so there are multiple options to make your hike longer/shorter or faster/slower.

Trip Report

We spent almost 2 1/2 hours and had the place mostly to ourselves. The heavy equipment work by the power lines seems to be finished. Major brushing along the trails in Black Oak Basin improved access and may help reduce future muddy conditions.
