Description:

We will work independently to clear the drainage and cobble of the West Trail. We will also clean the trailhead steps.

Meet at the main Willamette Street Trailhead parking lot, the paved on Willamette.

Trip Report

Our group met on a chilly cloud-covered morning at the Main Trailhead parking lot to work independently to clear the drainage and cobble of the West Trail. We hiked up the trail carrying our tools for the day, Terra hoes and shovels. Our group cleared out the drainage ditches and chipped dried accumulated duff and muck off of the cobble steps. We also added some brush to the trailsides to help people use the cobble trail.

Many of our group hadn't venture up the West Trail before. So after clearing the drainage we decided to hiked up to the summit and back down the Main Trail. As we approached treeline a cold breeze picked up and our group began to receive a pelting of graupel. The graupel continued as we enjoyed the dramatic views and brownies Janet had carried to the summit. We then descended the Main Trail back to the parking lot.
