We will continue our project from 2 months ago to add steps to the upper West Trail.

Meet at the main Willamette Trailhead parking lot, the paved lot on Willamette Street.

Trip Report

Our group met up with Dev, City staff, on a slightly overcast and cool June evening very much in contrast to the heat earlier in the week. We chatted and gathered up the supplies to install 3 steps on the West Trail. We hiked up to our work area just below treeline, laid out the steps and set them in. We used a plastic bag Dan brought to ferry soil from a borrow pit to fill in the steps. After finishing the steps we hiked over the Butte to enjoy the view and back down on the Main Trail to the trailhead. On our return we found that as always Clara had immaculately cleaned the traihead steps. We all enjoyed a treat of tart cherries and yogurt that Janet brought.
