Wildflower Wander in Mount Pisgah Arboretum

Please meet at the Arboretum Entrance. Look for the footbridge east of the information kiosk. We will be following the creek trails to begin.

This is truly an easy amble. Our intention is to search for classic Oregon wildflowers, such as an abundance of camas & clusters of shy trillium. Our small group will focus on finding the elusive ephemeral spring blooms. We have the opportunity to take photos of flowers adjacent to the trails, then identify their species depending on our knowledge.

Last week, the chocolate & mariposa & fawn & tiger lilies were all showing their colors. It’s hard to predict what we will find—perhaps a field of “Baby Blue Eyes” that are actually white? Bring your curiosity along!

A wildflower hike will follow a web of small trails within Mt Pisgah Arboretum. First along the creek trails, ascend 250’ up the zig zag trail, circle the upper and lower plateau loop, then descend the Jette trail past oak & incense cedar displays, explore a length along hillside trail, merging with the pond lily and water garden trails. You can choose what you want to explore: back along the riverside trail, or along another branch searching for an orchid. My guesstimate of mileage is about 2-3 miles and 20-30 plants.

Remember to bring your parking pass or card to purchase a permit near the trailheads.
