Willow Creek Preserve, TNC -STEWARDSHIP

Description:

Willow Creek is part of the West Eugene Wetlands, an area protected through a unique partnership between local, state and federal agencies, the local community and The Nature Conservancy.
Willow Creek Preserve is located in West Eugene and roughly 15 minutes west of downtown. On February 20th we will be, together with other Nature Conservancy volunteers, focusing on English Ivy removal in oak woodlands on the east side of Willow Creek Preserve. Activities will be held rain or shine. Expect to transverse areas that hold moisture seasonally, so just in case... come prepared with your preferred rain gear. We'll work 10AM-1PM.
Given parking limitations in this area, we will be meeting at the Willow Creek office at 10:00 am and then caravanning to the site from the office. It looks like the snow has moved on and the forecast predicts a rather dry, though perhaps brisk workday.
•Meeting location: Our office is located at 87200 Rathbone Rd Eugene OR 97402. https://maps.app.goo.gl/QjJjQmF4F3w8kEuZ8. From Rathbone continue to the end of the road. At the gate, continue straight -- don’t turn right. Volunteers are welcome to park near the office building, which is perched on the hill above the gate.

Trip Report

Weather cooperated again. Our crew of seven, today roamed through the poison oak loaded Willow Creek Preserve, part of the West Eugene Wetlands. We were removing pesky invasive English Ivy and conifer saplings in the native oak prairie.
