Yachats Ridge Tour

Description:

The nonprofit land trust, "View the Future", is working to preserve over 1,100 acres of land above Yachats. We will carpool to the Yachats Commons Center, and at 9am be transported up to the acreage for a 3 1/2 - 4 hour tour of the property. There will be 7 stops on the tour, viewing the forest areas, multiple creeks and water sources. The longest walking section will be 3/4 mile. Estimated total hiking mileage for the day is 2 - 3 miles. To participate, you must sign up for this tour here at the Obsidians site AND at the View the Future's Tour sign-up page on their website: https://www.viewthefuture.org/upcoming-events. Suggested donation to drivers is $19.

Trip Report

This tour provided an opportunity to view Yachats and the coastline north to Yaquina lighthouse from the ridge above Yachats. View the Future volunteers drove Obsidians to 7 locations on the potential land trust area, offering education and information on the physical and cultural history of the area.
